Telemedicine

Introduction

During the Coronavirus health emergency, the needs of the Italian National Health Service (SSN) to provide services to people forced to quarantine or in fiduciary isolation has grown exponentially.

The particularity of the moment has led, in different and numerous contexts, to adopt a solution for remote meeting, in order to guarantee the continuity of care and assistance to people whose diseases are not necessarily related to the virus.

The development of telemedicine represents a primary objective
with a view to changing the current paradigm on which the relationship
and communications between doctor and patient lay the foundations.

Telemedicine: What is it?

The delivery of health care services where distance is a critical factor, by all health care professionals using information and communication technologies for the exchange of valid information for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease and injuries, research and evaluation, and for the continuing education of health care providers, all in the interests of advancing the health of individuals and their communities.

Telemedicine: objectives and benefits

Telemedicine does not replace “traditional” medicine but supports and integrates it with new communication channels, guaranteeing:

  • EQUITY OF ACCESS: facilitates remote communication between doctor and patient even for patients residing in areas difficult to reach;
  • IMPROVEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF ASSISTANCE
  • OPTIMIZATION OF TIMES AND COSTS:
    • It does not involve any type of movement by the patient
    • It allows the doctor to organize meetings also at flexible hours

Indacon solution

Working alongside Microsoft during the emergency, Indacon designed, developed and implemented a solution based on Microsoft Teams
