Remote and Hybrid learning

Remote Learning: What is it?

Remote Learning, also referred as Distance Learning, is the process of teaching and learning performed at a distance: rather than having students and teachers together in person in the traditional classroom environment the students are distanced from their teachers and their peers.

The aim of Remote Learning is to re-create the classroom environment as the student learns through the computer: the student logs into the virtual classroom environment at scheduled times to view lectures or participate in group learning activities.

Objectives

The purpose is to integrate the “traditional” lessons performed in the classroom (Hybrid Learning) or to ensure academic continuity in particular situations and periods, such as the one we have been experiencing due to the Coronavirus Health Emergency.

 In these difficult weeks Remote learning, has had, and currently has, two different meanings:

on the one hand, it is necessary to keep the class and school community alive and the sense of belonging, fighting the risk of isolation and demotivation.

On the other hand, it is essential not to interrupt the learning process.

Nota prot.388 del 17 marzo 2020MIUR (Ministero dell’Istruzione Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca)

Benefits

  • It respects the students’ learning timings;
  • Lectures available for students unable to be present, for example due to disability problems;
  • Increase in the use of digital tools such as slides, video lessons, audio, video and maps in a complementary manner to the traditional utilization of text-books;
  • From a socio-economic point of view, it provides a means for time savings (mainly related to travel) and cost reductions for both students and organizations.

Indacon proposition

Indacon’s objective is to support the School at 360° in the design, planning and implementation of a solution for the management of Remote (and Hybrid) learning, based on the Microsoft 365 Education platform and, in particular, on the Microsoft Teams collaboration hub.

Once the specific needs have been analyzed, the consulting activity includes the “tailored” construction of the solution based on the structure of the classes and subjects (“class communication”), also favoring the work of the teacher (personalizing, for example, tools for student learning) and collaboration between teachers themselves.

Indacon is a Microsoft Global Training Certified Partner: the proposal also includes training (to be delivered in the classroom or remotely) to teachers, to illustrate and explain the operation and the different solution functions for the correct management of their own classes and subjects.

At the end of the course, dedicated training and informational material is provided to the teachers and students in order to facilitate the use and adoption of the solution.
